US Foreign Aid & Arms Transfers

Multi-year, by-country series from ForeignAssistance.gov, with an arms-transfer overlay. Aid is drawn solid; the arms overlay is added on top with a dashed outline, so the gap between them is the arms contribution. Summing the two is only valid for cash buyers — see the warning below.

which channels this chart contains, per selected country

A blank cell means the channel is absent from this tool — not that the value is zero. US support reaches a country through several channels and this chart carries two of them. Because the missing channels are not missing equally for every country, totals here are not a like-for-like ranking of what each country received.

Pre-loaded with Foreign Military Sales, FY2018–22, from the DSCA Historical Sales Book — the nine rows that passed both a sum check and a plausibility check. The book's other rows are excluded because its text layer misaligns some of them (Seychelles at $14.3B, Lebanon at $7.5B), and the printed lifetime totals misalign the same way, so a sum check alone does not catch it. These are selection-filtered, not sampled. Values are case value at signature, so amendments to earlier cases can make a year negative. Names must match the dataset's spelling. Figures are nominal and are deflated automatically when the chart is set to constant dollars.
